Info on Hotels in Zakopane

Hi My family and I will be visiting Zakopane in Dec 2007. We would like some advice on Hotels /B&B's that are central. I found Giewont Hotel on the I/Net,but now a friend here in South Africa said it is not such a good hotel. Plse can someone give us some advice we will be 6 adults. 1st time we will be going where there is lots of snow so any info will be appreciated or advice on what to do/take and not to do. Also have heard quite a problem getting tickets to go up mountain any advice on who we can contact to arrange before we get there. Tks Sheryl
