top trip
just done a DIY trip to Poland....cheap flights to kracow ( www.wegolo.com ) and a top cheap night out.Hotel bang in the middle of the city just 22 quid per night. hired a car and drove up to Zakopane in less that 2 hrs. only have to make one turn all the way.road is fine, just a bit of chaotic driving to beware. if you are an experienced skier the only place to go really is kaspory Wierch.other places are tiny but nevertheless great for beginners or kids...and very cheap. we were two experienced snowboarders and had a blast in deep powder on KV. 8th and 9th March.there is only enough to keep you going for a couple of days but the pistes up there are good and lifts efficient. everywhere you go there is good information written in english to explain how the ticket system works, and there is always someone around who can bail you out if you get stuck...english is widely understood if not obviously spoken. But the real fun was going somewhere completely different...totally unlike France Austria Italy etc. Amazing value for food, beer taxis etc and a completely different and exciting experience. Food is awesome, especially for carnivores. Zakopane really is a buzzing, vibrant, trendy and modern town....like a mini chamonix but miles better nightlife. I am delighted we chose to do this...so easy to set up with online hotel, car hire and budget airline booking. Perfect destination for a mini ski or snowboard break.
