Is it a bird, is it a plane..?
If Zakopane is the home of Polish winter sports, theres going to be at least one new hero in town and a record-breaking high-flyer at that. In fact, Adam Malysz is already the darling of Polish sports fans everywhere, renowned for his 39 ski jump World Cup wins. Now, he has set a new Polish record in ski-flying, jumping 230.5 metres at a World Cup event in Vikersund, Norway. Malysz is just 33 years old, but is the only ski-jumper ever to win the World Cup first four times, then three times consecutively. Its not just sports fans who will be delighted with Malyszs new record. He is something of a national hero, having also been awarded the high honour of the Order of Polonia Restituta, three times.
