Cutting edge at cut price

Music lovers have a chance to snap up discount tickets for one of the hottest international festivals this autumn, but only until the end of August. The sixth Krakow Autumn Festival of Jazz is the only music festival in Poland to focus entirely on contemporary improvised music and free jazz. It will run from September 20 to November 28, at Krakow's Alchemia club in Kazimierz, and the Manggha museum in the city centre. The festival has a tradition of attracting big names, and in just five years has won an international reputation for excellence and innovation. Testament to this is the fact that the likes of Anthony Braxton, Joe McPhee, Charles Gayle and Peter Brtzmann have all played there. This time around, old favourites such as Brtzmann and Vandermark will be back - with Trevor Watts, Edge, Akira Sakata and others all on the programme too. A special block ticket for all of the main nine events is available now at a discount, from the Alchemia website - just follow the link. But be quick... the offer expires on August 28, and tickets are likely to be sold out long before then.
