Here comes the snow...
If the drop in temperature and decidedly darker days were not warning enough that summer has been and gone for another year, the first snow of the season has been recorded in the Tatra mountains. Visitors to Zakopane were treated to a view of the peaks surrounding the town, dusted in snow, as the weather turned and the seasons slipped on towards winter. According to meteorologists, the snow would not last long, and presented no danger of avalanche. However, it is predicted to return in greater force later this month. TOPR, the Tatra mountain rescue team, said hikers in the mountains around Poland's winter capital should avoid peaks in poor weather, and check forecasts before setting out.
