This town's not short of Highland folk restaurants, but the Staro Izba stands out as one of the best. Authentic decor, along with costumed staff and Goral musicians, ensure that guests really feel they are sitting in an log hut perched high in the mountains, some time in the 18th century! For those who prefer to stay grounded in reality, grab the table in the projection for a great view onto the bustle of Krupowki street - from where you can keep an eye on proceedings! The food is everything you expect from mountain fare. Delicious dishes that will fill the pudgiest of paunches. Try the ribs, or the lamb cutlets...

We have eating several times in Staro Izba and the service is excellent and the quality and price of food is perfect! We have been several times pleasantly suprised by highlinders. We come back and have more polish vodka with traditional kielbasa: )
Lovely and cozy place! Service was ok, nothing special. The folk band was fantastic, especially as my boyfriend is Polish he could translate what they were singing about - quite naughty and funny songs :)
Food is fantastic, but quite heavy, don't order too much (skip the starter). In general really pleasant place, staff could be friendlier though.
It is a great place - sorry for me, i was there just once, august 2008, in my opinion, highly recommended for every visitor of Zakopane. Try the "Golonka" - amazing dish ! With Polish lager beer, of course. Okocim, or Ziviec - i prefered this Ziviec.
Here's something we definitely don't have back in the UK. Although it would definitely be a good idea. Maybe some of the new immigrants from Polska should make one of these in Shoreditch?!
13.September 2006 We enjoyed the ambience and watching the world go by (we were out on the sidewalk-patio area) but the food wasn't as good as it could have been - the lamb kabob was boiled more than grilled. The duck was not very warm, tho' expensive. The local salad was the best, as touted by the waitress, and we loved it! Too bad she disappeared for a time down the street so we couldn't get our bill and move on... LOVED Zakopane and walking the ridge!
