You'll find 'Pod Aniolem' (Under the Angel) on the top floor of the swish Belwedere hotel. It's worth the trip, as this restaurant boasts one of the best views in Zakopane, with a marvellous panorama of the rugged peaks of Mount Giewont, which is known as 'The Sleeping Knight' after its fairy tale profile. In the Summer you can sit outside and have lunch on the terrace, whilst in Winter, you can still enjoy the view through the glass wall of the inner sanctum. Here the interior has been decked out in a elegant highland wooden style. Sit back with a Highland Tea (with cherry vodka - this is Poland of course) and savour the spectacular scenery.

I have been dining at this restaurant for years now, and it used to be excellent, but no longer. I hosted a dinner for 12 last week and it was a disaster. I had reservations and arrived on time. The service was the worst I have experienced in any restaurant in Zakopane. Our 1 waitress neglected us to the point that we needed to flag down others for drinks, and to order. Our appetizers and meals all came out at different times over a 2 hour time span. The food was fairly good and that is why I give 3 stars. Unfortunately, my party as well as myself were upset by the service and would never return (I was married in this hotel years ago so it had special meaning to us, but the grandeur is defitely gone. Would not go back nor recommend unless you want decent food and truly bad service at a high price.
