It's immediate future as a hotel appears in doubt, but whatever happens to it, The Bulawayo Club seems set to continue sailing on in its grand manner, a rather outdated but still magnificent building in the heart of Bulawayo City. Entering the building takes the visitor back 150 years. Think Raffles in Singapore or the Mount Nelson in Cape Town. The delightful small courtyard helps battle the stifling heat of the city, and sipping a cool drink, one can easily forget time and place. The building has a number of remarkable rooms - for snooker, a library, meeting rooms and the famous Member's bar, all littered with portraits of bygone worthies, silver trophies for sporting achievement and other memorabilia. The effect is of a living museum. One of the treasures of Bulawayo. Go see it while it is still there.
