One of the truly great hotels of the world. Not because it is the smartest (frankly, it isn't), but it has an old-world charm and character that you will find hard to find in any hotel these days. Built in 1904, the Victoria Falls Hotel is set back from the falls (with a distant view of the bridge) in a lovely garden setting. Think Raffles in Singapore or The Mount Nelson in Cape Town, and you will have an idea of what to expect. The Victoria Falls is known as the "Grand Old Lady of the Falls" for good reason. Although there are many other hotels nearby, some with better facilities, none will match her prestige or grace - and she well knows it. Expect friendly staff, wonderful meals, and a game of snooker after dinner. Marvellous.
